The Founder

John Thompson, CEO

John Thompson founded Designer Water South Africa in 2013 after spending years studying the bottled water industry in South Africa. He saw a market dominated by commodity products competing on price, with no brand offering genuine premium positioning backed by real quality systems.

Bottling began in 2015 from a facility in centurion, Gauteng. The process was built from the ground up: 14 stages of purification and mineralisation, producing pH10 alkaline water enhanced with calcium, magnesium, and potassium. The water is also infused with molecular hydrogen and has a reduced ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential) at time of bottling.

From day one, the model was different. Instead of chasing retail shelf space, John built the Waterpreneur programme, a distributor network that gives ordinary South Africans the chance to build their own water business from as little as R539. Today, more than 5,500 Waterpreneurs operate across the country, with over 100 Master Distributors leading regional teams.

The 14-Stage Process

Every bottle of Designer Water pH10 goes through a disciplined multi-stage process. This is not a marketing story. It is the actual production sequence that gives our water its clean taste, stable pH, and mineral profile.

The full 14-stage sequence includes additional micron filtration, ozonation, and quality testing steps between each major phase.

Reverse Osmosis
