Six independent certifications
01 · About the water

The water. Explained.

What pH10 is, how it is made, how to drink it and where to get it.

What is Designer Water pH10®?

Designer Water pH10® is a premium alkaline water produced through a 14-stage advanced filtration process, one of the most rigorous in South Africa. The result is exceptionally pure water at pH 10 with a smoother taste and an enhanced mineral profile that includes calcium, magnesium and potassium.

What makes Designer Water different from other bottled waters?

Three things set us apart:

  • Filtration rigour. Our 14-stage process includes sediment filtration, activated carbon, reverse osmosis, UV sterilisation and ozonation, far beyond the industry standard 3-stage process.
  • Verifiable pH 10. Our alkaline level exceeds the thresholds used in published research, including the Koufman & Johnston 2012 acid reflux study.
  • Mineral profile. Calcium, magnesium and potassium are added during mineralisation. Every batch is tested.
What sizes are available?

We offer a full range for every need:

  • 330ml: compact, on-the-go hydration. Case of 24.
  • 500ml: daily use, perfect for gym bags and desks. Case of 24.
  • 750ml (sports cap): built for active lifestyles. Case of 12.
  • 1 litre: all-day hydration. Case of 12.
  • 5 litre: family and office use. Case of 4.
  • 10 litre: bulk buyers and events, on request.

How should I store my water?

Store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, drink it within 7 days for the best taste. Sealed and stored correctly, Designer Water has been independently verified to keep its quality for up to 3 years.

Why do I sometimes see white particles in the water?

This is completely normal and safe. The white particles are naturally occurring minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium, that can become visible with temperature changes. It is a sign of the water's mineral-rich composition. Shake gently if you prefer.

Why don't pH strips give an accurate reading?

pH strips are designed for liquids with a higher level of dissolved solids (TDS), typically above 150 ppm. Designer Water is exceptionally pure, with TDS below 50 ppm, so standard pH strips cannot give an accurate reading.

To test our pH, use a calibrated pH meter. That is the same standard our quality lab uses.

Can I drink Designer Water every day?

Yes. Designer Water is safe to drink daily. If you are new to high-pH water, start with a glass or two a day and increase as you feel comfortable. As with all water, the key benefit comes from consistent, adequate hydration through the day.

Is Designer Water safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Designer Water is safe for general consumption, including during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We always recommend consulting your healthcare provider for personalised advice on your specific needs.

Can I use Designer Water for cooking, coffee and tea?

Yes. Many of our customers use Designer Water for cooking and hot drinks. The smoother taste profile and low TDS can improve the flavour of coffee and tea by reducing bitterness.

Is Designer Water suitable for children and pets?

Yes. The purity of our 14-stage filtration process makes Designer Water safe for the whole family, including children and pets.

02 · Quality and science

What we prove. What we don't claim.

Six independent certifications, 14 purification stages, and what the peer-reviewed research actually says, including what we choose not to claim.

What certifications does Designer Water hold?

We hold six independent certifications:

  • SANBWA: South African National Bottled Water Association
  • ISO 22000: international food safety management
  • GC Mark: Global Conformity product quality certification
  • GFSI: Global Food Safety Initiative benchmarked
  • Kosher: independent Kosher certification
  • Halal: independent Halal certification
What does your 14-stage filtration process include?

Our filtration process is one of the most rigorous in South Africa. It includes multi-media pre-filtration, activated carbon filtration, high-pressure reverse osmosis, polishing filters, UV sterilisation, ozonation and mineral enrichment, among other steps.

The result is water stripped of contaminants, then re-mineralised with calcium, magnesium and potassium for taste and pH stability.

What does the published research say about alkaline water?

A growing body of peer-reviewed research has looked at alkaline mineral water. Here is what the published science supports:

Acid reflux (strongest evidence): research published in JAMA Otolaryngology found that an alkaline water and Mediterranean diet protocol matched or exceeded the effectiveness of standard PPI medication for laryngopharyngeal reflux symptoms.

Hydration: a 2016 study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found high-pH alkaline water improved hydration markers compared with standard tap water.

Minerals: the WHO has noted that drinking water can be a meaningful source of calcium and magnesium intake.

What health claims does Designer Water NOT make?

Transparency is core to how we operate. We make no medical claims. We do not claim that alkaline water:

  • Changes the course of any disease or medical condition
  • "Balances your body's pH". Your body's own regulatory systems do that
  • Has any effect on kidney stones or ageing
  • Replaces medical care or medication

We reference specific peer-reviewed research where it exists. Beyond that, we let the product speak for itself.

Does Designer Water undergo quality testing?

Yes. Our water is rigorously tested under SANBWA and ISO 22000 protocols. This includes regular pH testing, mineral content verification, microbiological screening and consistent quality monitoring. Our facility operates under GFSI-benchmarked food safety management systems.

How long does Designer Water retain its pH?

Designer Water has been independently verified to retain its pH and freshness for up to 3 years when sealed and stored correctly.
